My magnolia is starring lately I know… but there really is a short space of time when it’s flowers are opening and gracing our garden… I enjoyed drawing it on Saturday standing in the sun, listening to the sounds of children playing a long way off (not mine!). Prismacolour pencils are nice and waxy to use and the colours are intense.

  1. Love it Jo! Absolutely love it. Magnolia’s hold a special place in my heart. x

  2. Just beautiful Jo, i love the combination of line work and tone, and totally share your love of “Prismacolours”. I used to draw with Chinagraphs for the same reason, and these are almost as waxy but come in a full spectrum of colours. Nicholas Harding has done some ripping paintings of Magnolias which i’m sure you’d love… PS: Beware of magnolia petals on brick paving on cool mornings…very slippery and and guaranteed canon fodder for “funniest Home Video” – believe me, i know.
