“The continuous narrative of existence is a lie. There is no continuous narrative, there are lit up moments, and the rest is dark”.
There was a section later that didn’t “rock my boat” so much in Jeanette wintersons book Lighthousekeeping…. But mainly I was stunned by the beauty and poignancy of her symbolism, (each of us need a point of light to guide us…)… and I wondered why it is that I haven’t read anything of hers since Oranges are not the only fruit….

  1. I am wondering too- as Weight is one of the most beautiful books i have read, not to mention, The passion, and for a dystopian look into the future, The Stone Gods. all books by Janette winterson. but stop press….I have read one of the most beauitful childrens books, Mio, my son by astrid lindgren- an absolute treasure of a book. It is amazingly beautiful and yet so simple.
