3 surprises in my garden…

March 6, 2011

No 1.  Our lovely neighbour gave me a huge cutting from her frangipani late last year and it has already managed to produce some flowers…

No 2. When J & J left the country and entrusted me to care for their beautiful potted gardenia I was a little worried… especially when it went downhill for quite a while.  A new position and a bit of TLC and look at it now – shiny green leaves, lots of buds, and one beautiful flower.  (it also has special meaning to me as my mum’s ashes rest in the Gardenia Lawn at Springvale…)

No 3. Last night Nim picked a book from her bookshelf we haven’t read in years… the beautiful “Cassowary’s Quiz” by Carmel Bird…. just as we were reading the page with the Tawny Frogmouth, P came running in saying their was a Tawny Frogmouth outside our kitchen window trying to get in!  He sat on our hanging basket for a moment longer – then flew away….
