the lovely bones

June 3, 2009

A few people seemed to like the book recommendation.   I was really lucky last year when I was working at OLSH to have access to a great library and even better librarians…. even some of my cool students would recommend books (I still have to read The Book Thief that has been mentioned by a bunch of people – thanks).  So The Lovely Bones – it’s been made into a movie just this year and you can see a little bit about that here.  I’ve got to say I struggled through the first chapter which was quite horrific, but it’s well worth the effort as the following chapters are inspirational and poignant.  I felt a little more connected to those I have lost from this world…

“I had rescued the moment by using my camera and in that way had found how to stop time and hold it. No one could take that image away from me because I owned it.” (p. 213)

  1. Absolutely loved this book too. It is so full of hope even though the opening chapter would suggest nothing of this. He rsecond book “Almost Moon” is nowhere near the standard of the first I must say
